چکیده
Definition 1 (Spin Excess) For a system with N particles with spins ±m, the spin excess is given by how many particles more than N/2 have spin +m, i.e. S = N↑ − N2 where N↑ is the number of particles with spin +m. From Definition 1 and Equation (1) it follows that the total magnetic moment is given by M = 2mS. Theoretically, one could calculate the system’s magnetic moment at some point in time by using Newton’s laws for each particle (given the forces that act on each particle). However, as there are about 10 particles in a gram of matter, this is not very practical. A different approach would be to use statistical tools to find the probability of having a certain magnetic moment at some point in time. Since the total magnetic moment is a deterministic function of the spin excess, this is equivalent to finding the probability of a certain spin excess.

Fisher Information and Statistical Mechanics
Fisher information is an important concept in statistical estimation theory and information theory, but it has received relatively little consideration in statistical physics. In order to rectify this oversight, in this brief note I will review the correspondence between Fisher information and uctuations at thermodynamic equilibrium, and discuss various applications of Fisher information to equ...

In this article, a causal model on the basis of trajectory is introduced for description of quantum systems. This theory is structurally very similar to Bohme mechanics, and like Bohme theory reproduces all statistical consequences of standard quantum mechanics. Particle trajectories in this model are different from anticipated ones by Bohme model. Quantum potential (force) form, which is give...
متن کاملLess (precision) Is More (information): Quantum Information in Fuzzy Probability Theory
A comparison of structural features of quantum and classical physical theories, such as the information capacity of systems subject to these theories, requires a common formal framework for the presentation of corresponding concepts (such as states, observables, probability, entropy). Such a framework is provided by the notion of statistical model developed in the convexity approach to statisti...
متن کاملThe Ergodic Theorem
Measure-preserving systems arise in a variety of contexts, such as probability theory, information theory, and of course in the study of dynamical systems. However, ergodic theory originated from statistical mechanics. In this setting, T represents the evolution of the system through time. Given a measurable function f : X → R, the series of values f(x), f(Tx), f(T x)... are the values of a phy...
متن کاملInformation Theory and Statistical Physics
Relationships between information theory and statistical physics have been recognized over the last few decades. One such aspect is identifying structures of optimization problems pertaining to certain information-theoretic settings and drawing analogy to parallel structures arising in statistical physics, and then borrowing statistical mechanical insights, as well as powerful analysis techniqu...
متن کاملQuantum Information Theory
Quantum information theory provides a foundation for such topics as quantum cryptography, quantum error-correction and quantum teleportation. This paper seeks to provide an introduction to quantum information theory for non-physicists at an undergraduate level. It covers basic concepts in quantum mechanics as well as in information theory, and proceeds to explore some results such as Von Neuman...
